In another life Hawthorne and I aren’t bickering endlessly at band practice… we’re arguing with each other between clients at NEUROLOGY, the tattoo and piercing parlor we work at. With our coworkers tolerance for our nonsense running low, we make a deal to stay after hours and swap services, a tattoo for a piercing. Maybe stabbing each other will help us work the kinks in our relationship out. If not there’s definitely other ways we can release some tension. It seems though, that we’re not the only ones in the shop with that idea.

I’m tired of listening to my not-boyfriend complain about his family, that is, until the perfect opportunity surprises me when Hawthorne’s brother Seven crashes our not-date, insisting on going out with us for the night. I’ve fantasized about getting between the two of them anyway I can.

I knew going into the forest against mama’s wishes was a bad idea. Something terrible  is festering inside of me now, and the older I get, the stronger he gets. Him and I are going to make it out of this town one way or another.

Still Water is a 2.5 short story about the holy body of a trans person, and the small town that should fear them.
